Giuseppe
Merlin
Mobili Merlin is the story of Giuseppe Merlin, a craftsman who was able to give life to the antique and shape something completely of his own. Our art shop still brings his name along with his inheritance.
Son of Wood Master
Giuseppe Merlin was the son of a skilled craftsman who used to repair chariots and boats, well known in the whole area of Verona. The chariots he built were easily distinguished from others for their solidity and elegance.
In Merlin’s art shop, skill and good taste of the ancient venetian messengers have been passed on for over a century.

A young man in the venetian palaces
After becoming a real professional restorer and getting more requests, he had the chance to enter the most famous and important palaces of the venetian’s nobility palaces.
From restoring chariots and boats to fine furniture, it was just a matter of time. And then he got an inspired intuition: not only to restore the ancient but making it alive again with new wood material.
«Giuseppe Merlin owns a natural gift that only a few artists can claim to have» — this is how contemporary people used to define him.

Anthology Restores
New furniture came out of his hands with anthologies restores. The easy shape and lines were just like their creator’s soul: full of an overwhelming harmony and a refined elegance.
He used to rebuild the most deteriorated parts by stealing the internal and hidden wooden planks of the furniture and giving them a new spark of life. They seemed to be made by the precious and able hands of very skilled craftsmen from two centuries ago.

Something uniquely of his own
If a client’s furniture remained in his art studio, he used to copy that and create a brand new exemplary. Many models were born from fresh wood, and their creator will be defined as the Giuseppe Maggiolini of Verona’s lower area.
As his art shop was expanding, he started recruiting many local carpenters and a profound need was starting to creep inside his heart: giving life to something that was completely of his own, from birth to its completion. To reproduce fine furniture in all the existing Italian art styles.
